After finding out I didn’t owe the government for taxes this year, and in fact would be getting a very happy amount back, I decided to treat myself to a project I’d been hoping to do for a long time — Reupholster my chairs!
Before I moved to Chicago KT and I completely rehabbed these two chairs. They used to be a dark brown with an ugly yellowy-gold fabric. We stripped ‘em down, sanded every corner and crevice, then stained them. Next we used the handy-dandy staple gun to reupholster the ugly yellow with a nice striped red that would go perfectly in my new “Cubs room!”
They turned out great, but in the year and a half since our little project, they’ve seen a little wear and tear. Zoey uses one of the chairs as her “perch” to see out the window, and that chair especially had seen better days. In addition, since I no longer have a whole Cub’s “room,” I decided it was definitely time to choose something a little more fitting to the space I live in now.
For less than $30 I was able to nab this lovely fabric and the batting I needed to add a little more “cush” for the tush!
First I flipped the chairs upside-down and unscrewed the seats. Then I measured, cut, and stapled on the batting.
Next came the fabric …
Now that the seats are all nice and pretty, it was time to re-attach them to the chairs …
SO much better! This was a quick and inexpensive project that made a big difference in pulling my apartment together. And look, even Zoey loves her new chair!
